Visit Wales Grade April 2010

News

Following comments from a recent guest we have come up with a new name for breakfast. It can't be "full English" because we're in Wales. It can't be "full Welsh" because we're English so we have decided on "Full Guest".

We keep adding to our list of "approved" eating places.  A full list of 'local' restaurants and pubs is provided in your room. We don't recommend anywhere until we've tried it ourselves

We have discovered a  local beer called Torddu which is the same name as our Welsh sheep. You can find it in local shops and it makes an ideal gift to take home (for you to drink later) - to remind you of your holiday.

We've had our first inspection and grading visit . Needless to say we're very happy with our FIVE stars *****

Visitors have been getting close up to the lambs. Some have become very friendly.

It has been the driest Spring since 1976. Our favourite local beach (Llangrannog) now has a new car park. The home made ice creams in the cafe next to the beach are worth a special trip.

The weather has been perfect for the visitors --both hot and dry. Unfortunatley this is not very good for growing grass for the sheep. Many have been sold  to give the grass chance to grow.

Weather update. We've had rain - lots of it, and the grass is growing at last. The sheep are happy again.

We've just had both German and Danish visitors. Both were amazed at our views across the Valley stretching out over Carmarthenshire and Pembroke.

The woods are full of fruit again this year. Bumper crops of sloes, blackberries and elderberries are expected over the next few weeks. As we have enough sloes to supply a supermarket we have moved on from just making sloe gin, we now make sloe jelly ( to go on your toast) and have made our first batch of sloe ice cream. ----it didn't last long!

We have just bought some new hens. I'm not sure if the others were slowing down or the visitors were eating more eggs but re-enforcements have been brought in.
